I am a rural artist, drawing inspiration from the highly-charged Marches
landscape. I paint freely and I like to experiment with natural
pigments, van Dyck crystals and beeswax, with wide flat brush or stick,
and a variety of papers. This last year I have been exploring acrylic
paint, collage and most recently, oil sticks. My paintings and drawings
are a distillation of observation, an attempt to evoke atmosphere,
contour, colour, texture and.. importantly.. energy.
Highlights of 2010 included Treescapes at Pontypool Museum, The Palace
Artfest at the Bishops Palace, Hereford, Herefordshire Art Week,
art@the granary, Lingen, Art at N0.10. The Struet, Brecon. 2011 is
another busy year, both exhibitions and curating. I enjoy welcoming
visitors to my studio, buy, I hope they understand that it is strictly
by appointment. |
