Shobdon Food & Flying Festival is held in Shobdon, North Herefordshire
For those who prefer to keep their feet on the ground, an impressive list of the finest local food and drink has been compiled with everything from speciality meats, ales and wines to confectionery, cakes and cheese on show. Whether it’s bespoke scotch eggs, pies and pastries or spectacular dishes from Thailand, Spain, Italy or India, there’s something for all tastes.
Organiser Matt Teale said, ‘After eleven years we have built up quite a following. We now welcome only the very best producers Herefordshire has to offer. There are also plenty of new flavours to tickle the taste buds including bespoke cocktails, delicate chocolates and a variety of amazing desserts.’
Shobdon’s Food Festival has been a fixture of the county’s calendar for over a decade making it the longest running event of its kind in Herefordshire. What started as a village show with a few dozen visitors has grown into an event that now sees thousands flock to the small north Herefordshire village with its continued success also enjoyed by numerous nearby businesses. The event is sponsored by Bestparks whose Pearl Lake Leisure Park is just a few hundred yards from the festival’s showground. Money raised this year will again be split between Herefordshire Aero Club and local good causes. Previous beneficiaries have included the village church, sports clubs and local schools as well as cancer, children’s and animal charities.
Matt said, ‘Our ethos has always been to put on an event the whole family can enjoy while supporting local businesses and raising money for good causes. As well as donating money directly, we also give numerous charities the chance to raise their own funds with us.’
As well as the food and flying attractions, bespoke arts and crafts, cooking demonstrations by top local chefs, live music and children’s entertainment complete the packed line up. The Shobdon Food and Flying Festival takes place at Shobdon Airfield on the 1 & 2 July. For more details visit www.shobdonfoodandflyingfestival.co.uk
