Everyone knows there is no access to real art in the countryside isn't there?

Think again and check out these pages. 

Theatre

For Live art performances throughout Herefordshire and Shropshire and in Shobdon village hall, checkout Arts Alive for the programme of performances.  Nearby Ludlow also hosts a two week Arts festival in June/ July, including Shakespeare performances in the Castle.  Ludlow's Assembly Rooms have a year round programme of live pmusic, dance, theatre,cinema.   The National Trust properties of Croft Castle and Berrington Hall, near Shobdon, has regular outdoor concerts and shows.  The Courtyard Theatre  in Hereford has a year round programme of live theatre, music, crafts & cinema.

Cinema

Arts Alive also operates big screen cinema in Shobdon and other village halls in the area under the banner Flicks in the Sticks.

Each Spring, enjoy the Borderlines Film festival in lots of villages around Shobdon in Mortimer Country. The village hall in Shobdon has access to National Theatre Live  with satellite screenings of major productions at a fraction of the cost of a West End seat.

Books and Literary Festivals 

Hay International Literary festival takes place each May half term, and is easily accessible from Shobdon.  In Mortimer Country, regular literary events take place at Aardvark Books in Brampton Bryan.  Stay in Shobdon and find out why the landscape of Mortimer Country has inspired writers and poets from Milton to AE Housman.

Music festivals

From concerts in churches to live music in local inns, there's always plenty of music in Shobdon.  Mortimer Country is also lucky to have its own music festivals; from Lionstock in Leintwardine, to Presteigne's classical music festival over the August Bank holiday, to a world music celebration " Sheep Music"

Arts and Crafts

The amazing landscape around Shobdon is inspiration for many local artists.  You can see their work and visit the artists studios ,during Shropshire art Week in June,and  h.Art Week in September both display many artists works in their studios and galleries throughout Herefordshire. The Rodd, part of the Sidney Nolan Trust near Presteigne, has many exhibitions and talks to enjoy.
